friday afternoon, adam and i won last minute tickets to #ballonthemall, a benefit for the national mall. we enjoyed the VIP celebrity chefs and an unholy amount of champagne. i ate too much ham, and adam found out that gin and tonics contained sugar.
normal girls might run to the sale dress section at their local mall for a last minute black tie gown. i am not that girl.
much has been said about celebrities "recycling" formalwear, and that ladies like kate middleton are more responsible for not wearing a brand new dress to every occasion. kate and i have a lot in common, so i decided to channel her for this particular event. i'd shilled out a pretty penny for my last impromptu gala (inaugural ball - thank you, obama), so i recycled my beloved tibi tea-length circle skirt and black alice and olivia embellished top. on my feet were the silver sandals i wore to my wedding, and my accessories were from the wedding and my senior year prom. no kidding.
see? real people: we're just like kate middleton.
tibi skirt: regrettably, no longer available. similar vibe for much less here.
alice and olivia top: totally dope similar style in blue here.
